Answers to common questions about our chiropractic care.

Cornerstone Family Chiropractic exists to provide the entire family with first-in-class preventative chiropractic care so that you can be free to keep doing life on your terms. We know that when your family’s health is involved, your goal is to seek the best care possible and to feel comfortable and confident that you’re in good hands.

The purpose of our FAQ section is to answer some of the most common questions we get about chiropractic care in general and our care in particular. If you still have questions or don’t find the answers you’re looking for, feel free to contact us.

We believe in families, and we’re family people. We believe that children are a gift from God, that life starts at conception, and that mothers and fathers are crucially important in the lives of little ones.

That is why we provide chiropractic care for the whole family. Pregnant mothers, newborn babies, toddlers, teens—we take care of everyone at every stage of life.

And did we mention that kids under 12 are FREE? Click here to learn more.

Step One: Fill out the appropriate practice member form.
All new practice members are required to fill out the new practice member health application form as complete as possible. This form will be provided upon arrival. However, we have also provided you the option to print out this health application prior to coming into the office by simply clicking here. By having the form filled out before your appointment, this will save yourself up to 15 minutes on your first visit.

Step Two: A one-on-one consultation to discuss your goals.
A one-on-one consultation will be conducted to discuss your health conditions, and your overall health goals. This consultation will provide us with a better understanding of your current health status as well as assist us with locating the cause of your health conditions, so we can properly address your specific needs. We also firmly believe that knowledge is power; that is why we spend quality time with each practice member providing the necessary education and knowledge to ensure you are able to make an informed decision with yours’ and your family’s health.

Step Three: Assessment and evaluation.
After your goals have been discussed, we’ll evaluate the overall health of your spine and nervous system through a comprehensive chiropractic evaluation and neurological diagnostic testing, which will enable us to identify any neurological disorders or other existing medical conditions. Our state-of-the-art chiropractic technology and NASA-published diagnostic equipment means that we combine the very best in science and natural techniques to address dysfunction within the body.

A chiropractic adjustment at Cornerstone is a painless, non-invasive adjustment, primarily of the back and neck. We use our hands as well as chiropractic instruments depending on your needs, and the adjustment is typically very quick, lasting no more than a few minutes. It takes place in a private room behind a closed door, and families are welcomed and encouraged to go in for their adjustments together. At times during your adjustment you may be standing, and other times you might be sitting or laying down on specially-designed chiropractic chair or table.

We use the Gonstead approach to chiropractic care exclusively. Gonstead is a systematic, theoretical approach to chiropractic care that is highly-personalized to each individual based on objective observations about what is actually going on in your body. As the old saying goes, ‘to see is to know, and not to see is a guess.’ And when it comes to your health, we don’t guess.

Please note that we do ask patients to remove their shirts during the adjustment, and there is always a clean medical gown available for every patient. (For women, we are especially careful to respect their privacy and dignity, allowing them to remove their shirt and put on their gown alone and in private.) The reason for this is simple: if the Gonstead method is based on what is observable, being able to see your spine allows us to provide you with an accurate, individualized adjustment based on what your body truly needs.

We’re glad you asked, because actually, we’re not that kind of chiropractor. We provide wellness-based chiropractic care, not symptom-based care.

In other words, we don’t treat symptoms, we prevent them.

A common misconception about chiropractors is that that’s where you go when your back hurts, or after a car accident, or when you’re experiencing neck pain. While it’s true that proper chiropractic care can help alleviate some of those problems, the reality is that unless their underlying causes are addressed, the problem itself will never actually go away.

It’s a lot like taking aspirin for a broken leg: it’s doesn’t address the real problem.

At Cornerstone, our goal is to help your body to maintain its optimal health and strength. Not only does this give you what you need to keep taking life by the horns, but it strengthens your body to deal with sicknesses and injuries and heal itself more effectively when they do happen.

Each person is different and you should consult your physician to make sure that chiropractic care is right for you.

That said, in almost every single case—regardless of your health concern, age, previous surgeries, or medical condition—chiropractic care is almost always going to be an excellent health option, and that is because it strengthens the whole person irrespective of symptoms.

In fact, by facilitating the creation of healthier core body structures and systems—the spine, the brain, nervous system, immune system, muscles and joints, etc.—regular chiropractic care not only helps alleviate pain and symptoms, but it actually helps your body do what it naturally does, which is heal and maintain itself.

No matter your age, health, or circumstances, chiropractic care can help you heal faster, stay stronger, and be healthier, helping you to function at a higher level.

Again, we’re not that kind of chiropractor.

Generally speaking, we serve healthy, active people who need to stay that way, and who understand that regular chiropractic care is an integral part of staying as healthy as possible so they can keep living life to the fullest.

That said, every case is different, and how many adjustments you actually end up getting depends on your unique situation and individual health goals.

Your first two visits—which are the most important—will generally take anywhere from 45-90 minutes per visit depending on things like which evaluations we’re performing and what kinds of questions or issues we discuss. After that, once your treatment plan has been determined, regular adjustments will typically take less than 10 minutes per person.

By default, yes. X-rays are an integral tool to the chiropractic care that we provide. Cornerstone is a Gonstead-exclusive chiropractor, which simply means that we use the Gonstead approach to chiropractic care.

In short, the Gonstead system is an approach that is highly-personalized and tailored to the specific needs and condition of your body. X-rays are essential for allowing us to see what exactly is happening with your spine and skeletal system. Without that information, the your adjustment would be a guess at best. As the old saying goes, “to see is to know, and not to see is to guess.” And we’re not going to guess when it comes to anyone’s health.

While we have a digital x-ray machine onsite, you are welcome to bring in any previous x-rays or MRIs that you have. The more information we have, the better.

It depends.

In short, adjustments are typically in the range of $40-50 per adjustment for adults and teens 12 and over. That doesn’t include onboarding costs or expenses for any additional tests, procedures, or treatments.

However, each person and situation is different, and we really won’t know how much your chiropractic care and treatment will cost until you’ve had a proper assessment and we’ve looked at the findings along with your health, medical history, etc. Once we’ve done a proper assessment and know what your actual treatment will look like based on your unique needs, then we’ll be able to give you a final cost.

That said, we are a “family” chiropractor and serving families is what we do, which is why we work hard to keep care as affordable as possible.

Honestly, the best way to know how much your adjustments will cost is to go ahead and book an appointment today.
